Every PDF carries a hidden record: title, author, the app that made it, dates. See it, rewrite it, or remove it entirely before the file leaves your hands.
Questions
- Are my files uploaded anywhere?
- No. Every tool on this site runs entirely inside your browser using JavaScript — your file is never uploaded to a server, because there is no server. You can confirm it by opening your browser’s network tab, or by disconnecting from the internet once the page has loaded: the tool still works.
- Why does this matter for privacy?
- Files often carry the real name of whoever made them, taken from the computer or app they used. Stripping metadata removes the author, the producing software, dates, embedded thumbnails and private application data in one step.
- What is the XMP block the tool mentions?
- A second, technical copy of the metadata many tools embed. Editing fields here removes it, because it cannot be rewritten in the browser and viewers would otherwise keep showing your old values.
- Does editing change the document pages?
- No. Pages, text and images are untouched. Only the information record changes, and the modification date is set to now, since the file genuinely changed.
